PTL FAQs

  • Everyone can benefit from career exploration, including high school students. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics touts the value of previewing a profession through an experiential opportunity: "An ounce of experience can be worth a ton of research—especially when it comes to exploring careers." Especially at a time when we are making important decisions about their academic and career paths, high school students need career exploration opportunities to make more informed decisions about the direction of our future. Run by high school students, Project Talent Launch (PTL) helps fellow students develop an optimistic vision of their future.

  • At PTL, we value opportunities where students can learn and thrive in. We work closely with businesses and community organizations to develop a program that provides a meaningful, educational experience for students.

Before, during, and after the internship process PTL also provides guidance to high school interns.

To top it all off, ALL PTL Scholars (students who complete the program with positive evaluations) receive a stipend/scholarship.

  • As we work towards 100 PTL Internships this summer, we need all hands on deck. If you or someone you know could host a high school student this summer or fund a PTL program, we’d really appreciate your support!

  • Schools face budget constraints, and few have the resources to partner with companies, assist students with the application process, and support students during the program. By partnering with PTL, schools can still deliver this vital service without shifting resources from existing programs.

  • Internships can be meaningful in virtual, in-person, and hybrid formats. About two of our internships last summer were completely online due to COVID; yet, our interns excelled in their positions. At Cheese and Virtualitics, PTL Scholars contributed to projects and were rated 10/10 by their internship mentors.
